  • Outdoor facilities

SAM_2661At Stone Eden we ensure all children of all ages have the opportunity to explore any of the three outdoor areas we have within our outstanding setting.

Promoting healthy living is very important, ensuring all children get the chance to experience how to lead a healthy balanced lifestyle is paramount.

Therefore bringing the inside out is what we do best, as we understand how much our children thrive off experiencing fresh air and from being in our stimulating and positive outdoor areas.

Many people may question if we go outside in the cold and wet, but the answer is always YES, with appropriate clothing provided by parents/carers and a good pair of wellies are all your child needs to be happy outside, embracing the weather which enhances the opportunities already provided.

As practitioners we embrace the many changes in our very unpredictable British weather, allowing all children to experience wind, rain, snow, sunshine, frost plus many more. Giving children the opportunity to experience the seasons on a hands on approach promotes development as we explore the environment around us.

  • Being outside is what children love therefore as practitioners we embrace this to promote learning, exploring our outdoor environment allows us to look at the trees, watch the seeds grow, feel the different textures and listen to the different sounds, feel the wind, rain and sunshine against our skin, learn about the world we live in, plus many more important development and life skills.

Our rural setting is the perfect environment for us to be based in as we can soak up the nature surrounding us. Children become filled with excitement as our neighbouring farm vehicles pass by and give us a friendly wave.

Children also love to take part in an exciting observation walk as practitioners take children to our neighbouring farm, spotting animals, habitats and creatures living in the fields and long grass.

I love how much fresh air my child and friends receive, I also love watching my child explore the outdoor areas, she is always so excited to tell me about her day.

  • We are now taking bookings for February half term. If you would like to book a space then please phone the nursery where we will be happy to help.
  • Ladybirds have been practicing developing their fine motor skills today and using the pegs to hang pieces of material onto a washing line. It took a lot of concentration but everyone did so well!
  • Today Turtles have been solving puzzles through matching different body sections to the right picture. They loved trying to work out what face went with what body and legs and then discussing with their friends and practitioners their own individual facial features and what colour their hair and eyes were.
  • We have had a visit today from a boy who attended the nursery between the age of 2 and 4 years old. Noah who is now 11, always showed an interest with food at an early age and it has been lovely to have him helping out in the kitchen for the day with Dinner Time Dave and Ryan. We look forward to seeing Noah again in the future.
  • The boys and girls from Dragonflies and Ladybirds have had a very exciting afternoon visiting the residents at The Henry Lonsdale Trust, Rosehill care home. We put on our coats and enjoyed a wintery walk together. Once we got there we sang the Christmas Carols that we have been rehearsing, gave the residents a hamper and the cards that we made and then had a very special visit from Santa! They were all very intrigued to find out how Santa got there and where was Rudolph as we definitely did not see him on our way in!

  • Pre-school children have had a very exciting afternoon today. We have had some special visitors who have come to talk to all of the boys and girls about what Police Officers do and the importance of stranger danger. We also got to try on the different types of uniforms and have a look around the police van.
Thank you to Cumbria Police who have put some big smiles on our children's faces.

  • Ladybirds children couldn’t wait to make their friend some cupcakes for his 4th birthday today! This gave the children the opportunity to develop their physical and gross motor skills as well as maths. The boys and girls couldn’t wait for them to bake so that we could sing happy birthday. 🎂
  • Special delivery posted today 🎄🎅🏻
  • Don't forget that we have a bake sale in the baby unit entrance with lots of tasty treats still available for a Friday treat. All donations are going to Children in need 2018.
